Ford announced in March that it would launch the Motor City Kares giveaway to offer one dentist the chance of winning a $150,000 Ford Transit mobile dental office. This will help people living in low-income communities have easy access to dental health. Now, a new Ford Transit van donation program has gifted a mobile dentist office to two minority-led Michigan dental health providers. Ford has teamed up with Delta Dental and Kare Mobile to equip its mobile dental clinics and make this mission a reality.
The Ford Transit van donation program aims to provide high-quality, affordable dental care for those who live in low-income areas near Southwest Detroit. Hygiene On Wheels was the first to receive a donated Ford Transit. Deanna Alexander, a registered dental hygienist, founded the organization in 2008. Alexandar has provided dental care and education for underserved communities since 2008. Michigan’s largest non-profit dental service provider, My Community Dental Center (MCDC), received the second Transit van. Founded in 2006, MCDC currently has 34 locations across the state.
